Women, Land & Legacy had fun with Holiday Hoopla

Press Release

Women, Land & Legacy of Southwest Iowa hosted an event on Wednesday, November 13, dubbed Holiday Hoopla.

The evening kicked off at Red Oak Greenhouse where participants were led on a tour by owner, Mark Johnson. He explained the timeline of raising and distributing wholesale poinsettias while offering some home care tips for these festive plants.

Those on the tour marveled at thousands of poinsettias in a variety of colors and delighted in the opportunity to take a free plant to their home or office.

Following the tour, the group caravanned to the Montgomery County Fairgrounds where they gathered at the white fair building for an array of delicious appetizers and drinks prepared by caterer, Brenda Vrba.

Upon checking in, recipes for holiday appetizers were collected. They were later compiled into a booklet and distributed among the participants in hopes everyone could try something new in the coming months.

As refreshments were enjoyed, Whitney Beery, the Regional Retail Banking Manager for Bank Iowa, and Deborah Petersen, attorney for Petersen Law in Council Bluffs, led a discussion on distributing assets. They provided practical information and answered many thoughtful questions.

In all, 47 participants gathered for an evening full of festive fun, fabulous food and fellowship, and impactful education!
