Sidney Elementary welcomed Fremont County Extension for a Read Across Iowa Project.

Miss Jessica organized a Read Across Iowa activity for the kindergarten class on March 26.

Miss Heidi helped as well.<n>We read “My Family’s Apple Farm” by Katie Olthoff and made apple slingshots.

The students, in teams of two, were allowed to pick whatever supplies they wanted to successfully sling their apple (large pom pom).

Students practiced math and made a graph of the best way to eat apples. Caramel won! The group was divided about which apple was best, green or red.

Read Across Iowa is an annual Extension outreach effort in March to promote agriculture literacy.
