Fremont County Fair Sheep Show

The 2025 Sheep Show was Friday, July 18, at the Fremont County Fairgrounds in Sidney.

In the individual market class 1, first purple went to Dylan Brooks (Riverton-Fisher).

Second purple went to Brayton Johnson (Riverside Rockets).

In the individual market class 2, purple went to Brayton Johnson (Riverside Rockets).

Blues in the class went to Lyla Brooks (Riverton-Fisher) and Jenna Hall (Hamburg FFA).

In the individual market class 3, purple went to Lyla Brooks (Riverton-Fisher).

Blues went to Hallie Wallace (Riverside Rockets) and Josef Whitehead (Fremont County Fletchings).

In the individual market class 4, first purple went to Lyla Brooks (Riverton-Fisher).

Three received blue ribbons including Hallie Wallace (Riverside Rockets), Jenna Hall (Hamburg FFA) and Josef Whitehead (Fremont County Fletchings).

The grand champion market lamb banner, sponsored by Monica Bissen, went to Lyla Brooks (Riverton-Fisher).

Brayton Johnson (Riverside Rockets) received the reserve champion market lamb banner, sponsored by West Side Bar and Grill.

In the home raised market lamb class, Brayton Johnson (Riverside Rockets) received a purple ribbon.

Brayton Johnson (Riverside Rockets) also received the grand champion home-raised market lamb banner, sponsored by Randy, Lora Lea and Conner Owen.

Lyla Brooks (Riverton-Fisher) received the overall grand champion market lamb banner, sponsored by Sunshine Auction Company.

Brayton Johnson (Riverside Rockets) received the overall reserve champion market lamb banner sponsored by West Side Bar and Grill.

In the pen-of-three market lamb class, Lyla Brooks (Riverton-Fisher) earned first purple.

Second purple went to Brayton Johnson (Riverside Rockets).

In the commercial ewe lamb class 1, purple went to Brayton Johnson (Riverside Rockets).

In the commercial ewe lamb class 2, purple went to Brayton Johnson (Riverside Rockets).

Those with blue in the class were Dylan Brooks (Riverton-Fisher), Jenna Hall (Hamburg FFA) and Josef Whitehead (Fremont County Fletchings).

In the purebred ewe lamb class, Brayton Johnson (Riverside Rockets) received a purple ribbon.

Brayton Johnson (Riverside Rockets) received the overall grand champion breeding ewe banner, sponsored by Brooks 4 Farms Inc.

Tuesday Leseberg sponsored the reserve champion overall breeding ewe banner, also earned by Brayton Johnson (Riverside Rockets).

Jenna Hall (Hamburg FFA) earned a purple ribbon and the senior grand champion showmanship buckle, sponsored by Arbor Bank.

In the intermediate sheep showmanship class, purple ribbons went to Josef Whitehead (Fremont County Fletchings) and Lyla Brooks (Riverton-Fisher).

Lyla Brooks (Riverton-Fisher) received the grand champion intermediate showmanship buckle, sponsored by Midwest Pumping and Pit Cleaning.

Josef Whitehead (Fremont County Fletchings) received the reserve champion intermediate sheep showmanship belt buckle.

His belt buckle was sponsored by Tredas LLC-Matt Stenzel.

In the junior sheep showmanship class, all three 4-H’ers earned a purple ribbon.

They were Dylan Brooks (Riverton-Fisher), Brayton Johnson (Riverside Rockets) and Hallie Wallace (Riverside Rockets).

The grand champion junior sheep showmanship belt buckle, sponsored by Greg and Teresa Johnson, went to Dylan Brooks (Riverton-Fisher).

Brayton Johnson (Riverside Rockets) received the reserve champion junior sheep showmanship buckle, sponsored by Amy Head.

In the carcass class, Jenna Hall (Hamburg FFA) and Hallie Wallace (Riverside Rockets) each received a purple ribbon.

Hallie Wallace (Riverside Rockets) received the grand champion carcass banner sponsored by Curtis and Leslie Brooks

Jenna Hall (Hamburg FFA) received the reserve champion carcass banner sponsored by Amy Head.

Hallie Wallace (Riverside Rockets) received a purple ribbon and the grand champion rate of gain banner sponsored by Amy Head.

The Southwest Shootout invites the grand champion of each of the four main livestock categories (goat, swine, sheep, beef) to participate in a multi-county event July 27 in Bedford.

The grand champions of both breeding and market animals in each species are eligible to attend.

Lyla Brooks (Riverton-Fisher) will represent Fremont County at the 2025 Southwest Shootout in Bedford in the market class.

Brayton Johnson (Riverside Rockets) will represent Fremont County at the 2025 Southwest Shootout in Bedford in the breeding class.

Clover Kids participating in the sheep show were Morgan Wallace (Riverside Rockets-CK), Brynna Jones (Riverton-Fisher-CK), Hudson Walter (Fremont County Fletchings-CK) and Bentley Johnson (Riverside Rockets-CK).

The judge was Gabe Hanson of La Porte City. Sheep fair superintendents are Daniel Whitehead and Jed Whitehead. -30-
