Homestead Monument to host Winter Festival of Prairie Cultures Celebration

Go back in time this holiday season, November 25 thru December 30, to see a beautiful tapestry of winter traditions of those who lived on the Great Plains at the beginning of the Homestead Era. The Homestead Act of 1862 served as an invitation for immigrants to seek free 160-acre homesteads in the United States and become citizens, resulting in the arrival of a variety of cultural and ethnic traditions to the United States. Our Winter Festival remembers this rich heritage and celebrates the cultures of those who settled the Great Plains as well as the cultural traditions that precede the Homestead Act.

Tabitha Supporters Leave Their Signature to Support Seniors

Tabitha invited supporters to gather at the Country Club of Lincoln for the nonprofit’s annual major fundraiser, “The Signature Event.” The theme of the evening was “Leave Your Signature for Seniors” and guests did just that. Tabitha stories were shared with event goers, featuring Tabitha clients and difference-makers who have deeply impacted Tabitha’s ability to fund and fill community needs.

Peru State College honors 2022 Athletic Hall of Fame inductees

It was a perfect weekend to celebrate and that is what Peru State College, its Foundation, and the Athletic Department did this past Friday and Saturday. Peru State inducted its 30th class into its Athletic Hall of Fame which included a banquet Friday night and then an induction during halftime of its football game on Saturday, Oct. 22. To top things off, the Bobcat football team pulled out a 27-25 win over the William Penn Statesmen in the beautiful Oak Bowl. Five individuals and ten different men’s basketball teams were honored during the two days of events.
