The Sidney girls’ and boys’ golf teams competed in a triangular at Griswold on April 4. The Sidney girls’ team shot 188 while Red Oak shot 240 and Griswold failed to card a team score.
The Sidney girls’ track team competed at the Red Oak Invite on April 6. Medal winners were Lilly Peters, first, discus, 107’8”; fifth, shot, 26’7.5”; Lily Kingsolver, fourth, 100, 14.03; and Paycee Holmes, fifth, long jump, 14’2”.
The Sidney girls’ and boys’ golf teams opened their 2023 seasons on Monday, April 3, against Shenandoah at the Fremont County Golf Course. Avery Dowling shot 45 in leading the Sidney girls’ team to a score of 204, compared to 234 for Shenandoah.

Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Fremont County sponsored Jungle Junior Overnight Friday, March 17. Thirty-two youth in 4-6 grades met at the Fremont Mills High School in Tabor at 6 p.m. Camp lasted until 10 a.m. on Saturday. The camp was open to all area youth in grades 4-6 with no requirement to be 4-H members.
AAA has long been an advocate for Slow Down, Move Over laws, requiring drivers to slow down and move over for emergency responders on the roadside. The Peru State baseball team pulled its season record to 8-8 following a four-game home and away sweep of Park University on Saturday, March 25, and Sunday, March 27. After earning home wins by scores of 11-7 and 4-3, the Bobcats traveled to Parkville, Mo., where they picked up wins by scores of 3-2 and 2-1.
