The 2025 Hamburg Spring Clean Up, sponsored by the City of Hamburg, is available to all Hamburg residents and property owners from Friday, April 25, through Saturday, April 26, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. with the disposal site located at the southwest intersection of George and Argyle Streets.
Members of the Hamburg Charter School volleyball team hosted a breakfast fundraiser for the program recently. Players working at the fundraiser included Emmerson Matheson, Keegan Matheson, Kodi Tysor, Alexa Avalos, Mackenna Mather, Hailee Michel, Peyton Belt, Haley Mullins, Hannah Thompson, Hilda Thompson, and Amber Graham along with Head Coach Emily Graham. The Fremont County Farm Bureau hosted a Legislative Coffee in Sidney on April 5. In attendance were Senator Mark Costello and Representative David Sieck. The Brownville Concert Series is thrilled to welcome Lianne Marie Dobbs in “Why Can’t a Woman?” Broadway leading men’s songs and sassy standards, served up with a twist of SHE, with music director, Ron Abel.
It’s musical week at Peru State College as the Peru State Theater Company and Music Department are set to present “The Lighting Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical in four shows from April 10-13 at the Performing Arts Center on the Peru campus.
First State Bank, Office of Glenwood State Bank, presented a donation of $50,000 toward the construction of a splash pad in Tabor City Park. With this contribution, First State Bank continues its tradition of giving back, reinforcing its role as a community bank. The new splash pad will provide a fun and safe space for children and families, adding to the park’s amenities and strengthening the sense of community. Pictured, representing First State Bank and Tabor Hometown Pride are Grant Dean, Macee Rix, Larry Winum, Angie Alley, Nicholas Clark, Susan Shepherd, Michelle Taylor and Roberta Aistrope. Total donations to the splash pad project stand at $116,652. The goal for donations is $150,000. At that amount, the project will be eligible to apply for other grant opportunities. Shenandoah Medical Center has recently undergone a major renovation project to increase access to care for residents in Fremont County by expanding its Sidney Clinic. SMC implemented this expansion to meet the demand of increasing utilization in the Sidney community and to promote its vision to be the Southwest Iowa leader in enhancing health.

George C. Grape Hospital sponsored a free night at the Colonial Theater in Hamburg over the weekend with 127 in attendance to see Snow White starring Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot.
