Sheyanne Simmons of Fremont County was among a group of Iowa’s future leaders in science, technology, engineering and mathematics who embarked on a transformative journey through Iceland, June 7-13, as part of STEM in Motion, an innovative 4-H Youth Development program from Iowa State University Extension and Outreach.

The Brownville Concert Series is thrilled to welcome to Brownville, Josh Hoyer SOLO – Stories and Songs. Hoyer will be performing solo, bringing some of his original soul, blues, and Americana music to Brownville. The songs come directly from Hoyer’s life and have a realness that begs the listener to step into his world. It’s sure to be one you won’t want to miss! The Battle with the Bulls Committee would like to send a big thank you to the Sidney gootball team for setting up the arena and back pens on the Friday morning before the Battle With The Bulls event and also for taking all the heavy gates and chutes down on Sunday after the event. This group worked in the heat on Friday and again in the mud and rain on Sunday morning.
As I’ve had some time to reflect on my life and time to visit with friends a little more intently, I’ve learned some lessons and so have they. We’ve learned that in this life we can only control what’s in “our lane,” and that worrying about friends, family and others only gives us more stress when all along it’s not our job to fix the world, change people, protect our babies or to judge our neighbors.
