University of Iowa volleyball recently announced the hire of Olivia Larsen as the program’s Director of Operations. The announcement was made by head coach Jim Barnes.

The Sidney Iowa Rodeo celebrated with a Saturday of events in downtown Sidney on Aug. 2 with vendors and events in advance of the final performance of the 2025 rodeo.

This year’s Sidney Iowa Rodeo Queen, Lauren Jaschke of Slater, Iowa, finds inspiration in interacting with youth and looks forward to a career in agriculture and agriculture education while continuing to drive forward with her rodeo ambitions.

You may have recently heard a little boom, or a few of them, as the town served as the host site for a Civil War Lunch and Learn event. The event had a great turnout with attendees witnessing the firing of a civil war cannon. Organizers send thanks to the city for its support of this program! Additional thanks go out to Jimmy Briggs for his knowledge and displays of Civil war items, and Bill Somervell for his knowledge, time and cannon. Submitted by Teresa Crecelius.

Just over a month ago, the dust settled over another thrilling Battle with the Bulls, hosted by Gold Buckle Productions on June 27 and 28, 2025. Over two action-packed nights, fans were treated to top-tier bull riding, intense bull fighting, fast-paced barrel racing, and the always-entertaining mutton busting. Each event kept the crowd on the edge of their seats from start to finish.
