Farm School at Hamburg

Students at the Hamburg Farm School are getting the garden ready for this summer. Elementary students have been starting tomatoes, onions, bell peppers and cabbages from seed. Those plants are transplanted from original pots to larger containers to allow them to continue the growth process. First graders have been a big help with planting tomatoes and got to take tomato plants home.

Kiefer makes directorial debut with Robinson Crusoe

Lacey Kiefer of Percival is making her directorial debut with the play Robinson Crusoe at the Southwest Iowa Theatre Group Park Playhouse in Shenandoah. The play will be performed at 7:30 p.m. on March 7 and 9. The theater is located at 604 Sportsmans Park Road. Reserve tickets at 712-246-1061. Hamburg Cake Fundraiser 2025

Liam Clements, a student at Hamburg Community Schools, was named as the winner of the Hamburg Cake Fundraiser Contest. Students were assigned to write a paper and draw a picture of the cake they wanted to design. Wendy Pitts-Duncan of Annie’s Boutique Bakery, a sponsor of the fundraiser, received the top three student papers and was tasked with choosing the winner. This year’s winner chose a beach theme for his cake. Submitted by Teresa Crecelius.

Farragut Fire New Bunker Gear

Quentin Sperfslage, Nikolaus Martin, and Danny Whitehill with The Farragut Fire and Rescue all received new bunker gear. The cost of one set pants and coat was- $3,930.00. Funds from the pancake and sausage feed helped make this possible. Thanks to those in Fremont County who support these volunteers by attending their events!
