No one is immune to issues that can adversely affect their mental health, including men and women nearing retirement age and those who are already retired. Though the term “golden years” suggests life in retirement is one sunny day after another, many individuals 60 and older are dealing with mental health issues.
George C. Grape Community Hospital has announced the hiring of Mike Anderson as the hospital’s interim chief financial officer.
Jason Henderson has been appointed vice president of Iowa State University’s Extension and Outreach programs. Henderson, who currently serves as director of extension and senior associate dean for faculty development in the Purdue University College of Agriculture, as well as assistant vice provost for engagement, will join Iowa State on April 3, 2023.
Hamburg’s city crews were busy during the Christmas week clearing snow. After a deep freeze of Christmas temperatures and a blanket of holiday snow, the thermometer returned to more pleasant readings for New Year’s week.
Hamburg’s Charter High School 9th Grade Civics Class did a contest with students from Pre-K through 6th grade to help supply the Hamburg Inter-Church Food Pantry. The students brought food items to school and the class that brought the most items we treated to a pizza party. The students nearly 3,000 food items to the pantry. The popular music streaming platform Spotify tracks the most popular holiday songs each year, and 2021 featured a mix of some newer songs and some all-time classics. The Southeast Community College Board of Governors approved a $2 per credit hour increase in the tuition rate and a $2 per credit hour increase in facilities fee for the 2023-2024 academic year during its regular monthly meeting Dec. 13. The motion passed on a 9-2 vote.
