Crop, livestock farmers should review these documents for tax time

Crop and livestock farmers who are working on preparing their 2022 income tax returns can review two useful documents for end-of-year determinations. The article “Suggested Closing Inventory Prices for 2022 Records” provides suggested closing inventory prices for all major crop and livestock commodities produced in Iowa, and “Deductible Livestock Costs for Adjusting 2022 Income Tax Returns” provides cost estimates for farmers who consume food produced by their operation, which must be deducted from expense reporting.

Moringside dean’s list released

Morningside University Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Chris Spicer announced the 471 students named to the dean’s list for the fall semester of the 2022-23 academic year. The dean’s list recognizes Morningside students who achieve a 3.67-grade point average or better and complete at least 12 credits of coursework with no grade below a “C-.” Students who achieved a 4.0-grade point average are denoted with an asterisk (*).

Applications being accepted for Waubonsie Artist in Residence Program

Golden Hills RC&D, Friends of Waubonsie State Park, and the Iowa Department of Natural Resources are excited to announce the opening of the latest round of an innovative artist in residence program at Waubonsie State Park. This is the fourth season that the park will host artists for the program, which was the first of its kind in the state. Artists will receive living and studio space in the park, with time to focus on their work and seek inspiration from the southern Loess Hills.
