The cities of Sidney, Creston, and Corning were each awarded $25,000 grants under the Comprehensive Neighborhood Revitalization Planning Community Development Block Grant (CNRP-CDBG) Program by the Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA). Southwest Iowa Planning Council (SWIPCO) will administer the grant for these cities.

Following are brief summaries of the March meetings of the Fremont County Board of Supervisors, written from the meeting minutes: March 1: Supervisor Clint Blackburn signed a contract with Eagle View for the new flight for the county geographic information system (GIS). This year, the contract will be paid out of the county’s American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds. Supervisor Dustin Sheldon announced that a contractor who has been hired to replace windows in the courthouse was to be on site on March 14, with the project slated to begin April 3. Supervisor Blackburn was appointed to the vacancy on the Southwest Iowa Region Mental Health and Disability Services Board that was created by the retirement of former supervisor Randy Hickey.
