Lourdes Central Catholic had five seventh-grade students receive recognition for their efforts in the 2023 Nebraska Junior Academy State (NJAS) Science Fair, which took place April 20 at Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln. Honorees are as follows: Amelia Moody: Top 10 placement in the NJAS Science Fair; $100 prize for outstanding research.
Mitchell Hoyer, assistant director and senior manager for 4-H Youth Development, has been named interim 4-H Youth Development state program leader with Iowa State University Extension and Outreach. Hoyer began his new position April 22.

The cities of Sidney, Creston, and Corning were each awarded $25,000 grants under the Comprehensive Neighborhood Revitalization Planning Community Development Block Grant (CNRP-CDBG) Program by the Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA). Southwest Iowa Planning Council (SWIPCO) will administer the grant for these cities.
