Hamburg residents have a new fitness option in the community as fitness educator Teri Keller is leading exercise classes for Hamburg residents at 6 a.m.
In a similar spirit activities like geocaching or Pokemon Go, painted rocks can be a great way to get people to go outside, be active and enjoy being part of a positive community.Fremont County is fortunate to have a rock painting and hiding group which gets people expressing creativity and engaging in rewarding scavenger hunts for painted treasures.The Fremont County fun began in August of 2017, when Anita Baker from Farragut started having paint parties and activities to keep herself busy while bringing joy to others.
A group of volunteers are powering fundraising efforts to help Iowans with disabilities.The Pony Express Riders of Iowa is a group of volunteers who host fundraisers in their home counties throughout the year with funds going to Easterseals and Camp Sunnyside of Des Moines, an organization which works to ensure that all people with disabilities or special needs and their families have equal opportunities to live, learn, work and play in their communities.
Lilly Peters, a senior at Sidney High School, recently signed a letter of intent to continue her track and field career at Briar Cliff University in Sioux City.“I have always dreamed of throwing the discus and shot at the collegiate level,” Peters said.
On March 4, the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office received a call that an incident had happened at a grain bin site at 2922 120th St., Tabor.
Long lines and massive support greeted the Relax and Unwind Mobile Coffee business during a recent trip to Sidney and that experience continues to drive the enthusiasm of a team of individuals who are glad to be doing what they love.Sisters Keely and Stormy along with their husbands Tim Rogers and Kaleb Kahue took over Relax and Unwind from the business’ founders, Josh and Kayti Hayes, at the end of 2023 and are working on arrangements to operate the traveling trailer full time.For now, the foursome will get exposure by establishing themselves through pop-up opportunities in the surrounding small towns of Southwest Iowa, Southeast Nebraska, and Northwest Missouri.
Sheriff Kevin Aistrope reports, “With milder weather we will be doing projects with the Iowa State Patrol with the intent of seat belt enforcement.”Aistrope said the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office will be enforcing general traffic enforcement and looking for impaired drivers.
The Sidney Brew, a group of interested business owners and citizens dedicated to expanding Sidney’s brand, will be holding its next meeting on Sunday, March 10, at 2 p.m.
Iowa State Senator Mark Costello and Iowa State Representative David Siek will be featured at the 2024 Legislative Coffee event at the United Faith Church in Sidney at 10 a.m.
