Nominate conservation leaders for Iowa Farm Environmental Leader Award
Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds, Lt. Gov. Adam Gregg, Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig and Department of Natural Resources Director Kayla Lyon invite Iowans to nominate individuals or families in their communities for the 10th Annual Iowa Farm Environmental Leader Award. Nominations will be accepted until Monday, May 2, 2022, to be considered for the 2022 awards ceremony held at the Iowa State Fair.
Sidney speech team going to state tournament
Sidney Community Schools speech team had great success at the speech districts and will be going to the state tournament this week. One Act and Reader’s Theater both earned one ratings and will be going to the State Tournament.

Providing help for someone with suicidal thoughts
When celebrity chef and travel television personality Anthony Bourdain committed suicide in 2018 at age 61, the world was taken aback because it seemed like Bourdain was on top of the world. Many well-known people have committed suicide, including Robin Williams, Chris Cornell, Margot Kidder, and Kate Spade. In 2021, “Dawson’s Creek” writer Heidi Ferrer committed suicide after a year-long battle with COVID-19.
Shenandoah Hills wind project discussed in Page, Fremont counties
Page and Fremont County supervisors heard presentations from representatives of Invenergy on the proposed Shenandoah Hills Wind Energy Center in the southwest corner of Page County. The proposed project, which encompasses about 45,000 acres, would generate 200 megawatts of wind power.

ISU Fremont County Extension & Outreach Program to offer class for women in agriculture
The Iowa State University Extension and Outreach of Fremont County will be hosting Annie’s Project class specifically for women offered by program coordinator Mandy Maher at the Tabor Community Center.
Chickadee Checkoff donations increased in 2020
Last year, more than 7,100 Iowa taxpayers helped boost wildlife conservation with donations to the Fish and Wildlife Fund on their state tax form. The number of people donating has continually declined and represents about 0.5 percent of total taxpayers in Iowa.

We will resume providing school meal information as soon as we receive the February menus.
