New books? The staff always enjoys being able to respond “yes,” when a patron asks are there any new books. The newest titles at the Hamburg Public Library bear the name of well-known authors.

Boaters to hit the waters this Memorial Day weekend

The unofficial beginning to summer is just days away and that also marks the unofficial beginning of Iowa’s boating season. Boaters across the state are anxious to get out on the lake after the cool and wet spring and are preparing their watercraft for the long holiday weekend. Susan Stocker, boating law administrator and education coordinator for the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, said safety should be the top priority for all boaters.

An article published in the Hamburg Reporter on May 13 regarding the Hamburg City Council and the resignation of Hamburg Mayor Cathy Crain had errors of attribution. The article written by Veronica M. Barreto-Rosa, said that Hamburg resident Kim Johnsons addressed the council with questions about lots sold by the Hamburg Economic Development Authority.

Doane University Commencement

Sarah Elizabeth Daly of Sidney received her bachelor of arts in music from Doane University during commencement ceremonies on Sunday, May 8. Graduate students and non-residential or online students completing their undergraduate degrees walked at 10 a.m.
