Visitors to the annual Native American Artifact Show at the Missouri River Basin-Lewis and Clark Visitor Center on March 8 were treated to a preview of an upcoming traveling exhibit, as well as a behind-the-scenes look at how the exhibit came together.
The Hamburg Charter High School FCCLA Chapter recently hosted its inaugural Food Drive, an effort to bring the community together to make a positive impact on the lives of those facing food insecurity. The K-6 grade which collected the most items was treated to an ice cream sundae party. Drop-offs were made to the Hamburg CSD between Feb. 25 and 28. The Waubonsie Gun Club held their 56th annual Fish and Chicken Fry on Friday, March 7.
The Hamburg CSD Student Council Dance Committee organized the Sweethearts Dance for students in grades 7-12 on Feb. 21. The semiformal event was from 7 to 9 p.m. on Feb. 21. Submitted by Teresa Crecelius.
Liam Clements, a student at Hamburg Community Schools, was named as the winner of the Hamburg Cake Fundraiser Contest. Students were assigned to write a paper and draw a picture of the cake they wanted to design. Wendy Pitts-Duncan of Annie’s Boutique Bakery, a sponsor of the fundraiser, received the top three student papers and was tasked with choosing the winner. The Essex Community School District and Hamburg Community School District School Boards have named Gregg Cruickshank as the districts’ next shared superintendent.
On Saturday, March 1, members of the Hamburg FFA traveled to Jefferson, Iowa to compete in District contests.
Lacey Kiefer of Percival is making her directorial debut with the play Robinson Crusoe at the Southwest Iowa Theatre Group Park Playhouse in Shenandoah. The play will be performed at 7:30 p.m. on March 7 and 9. The theater is located at 604 Sportsmans Park Road. Reserve tickets at 712-246-1061.
