The Southwest Iowa Art Tour is gearing up for its ninth year connecting rural communities through art. In 2014, a group of southwest Iowa artists came together to pull off a regional event to connect their rural communities – a self-guided ‘Art Tour’ that would showcase their artworks, studios, galleries, and hometowns.
Gracee Thompson is the daughter of Chad and Alisha Thompson. She has been involved in volleyball, basketball, golf, track, softball and cheerleading. She has been a member of both band and choir. She has been involved in school plays. She is a member of the National Honor Society and has served on Student Council. Gracee has participated in numerous community service projects such as PE Fun Day, youth volleyball and basketball games as a referee, scoreboard keeper, and stats keeper. She has also been involved in projects around the community. Her future plans include attending nursing school with the goal of becoming a midwife.
Sheriff Kevin Aistrope reports that at approximately 11:35 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 23, Fremont County deputies were called to the 200 block of Park Street in Hamburg for a report of a burglary in progress. The caller advised the female suspect fled the residence and left her 8-year-old child at the scene.

It’s the 10th leading cause of death in America, the second leading cause of death for people age 25-34, and the third leading cause of death for those age 15-24.
On Aug. 29, the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship announced the first confirmed case of Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease Virus Type 2 (RHDV2) within the state of Iowa. The disease is not considered a risk to humans or other animal species, including cats and dogs, but it is highly contagious and deadly to rabbits.

A high school darkroom photography class put a camera in landscape photographer Brandon Engel’s hands “and I haven’t put down a camera since.” Engel, who lives in Omaha, is a featured artist at the Wildwood Historic Center’s Art Barn. He said he most enjoys the unique places that his photography takes him.
Well, I have had a while to be by myself – like 5 days in complete isolation and 10 days of wearing a mask if I did go out of my apartment. Covid – like Elvis, has left the building. At least I hope it has. I imagine Covid symptoms vary from person to person as in most viruses and diseases.
