Fremont County’s K-9 Deputy, Sally, is returning to the classroom this fall alongside her handler Logan Roberts and will serve students in the Sidney and Fremont-Mills schools as a trained crisis response therapy K-9. Submitted by Teresa Crecelius.
The Brownville Concert Series is thrilled to welcome The Cody Sisters to Brownville. The Cody Sisters band is the very heart of contemporary acoustic Folk and Bluegrass music in Colorado, the United States, and the UK. Their propulsive instrumental solos and warm harmonies combine to grip the listener. Along with their bass player Will Pavilonis, sisters Megan (guitar, mandolin, vocals) and Maddie (guitar, banjo, vocals) have forged a new sound that has no equivalent match in the acoustic world today. It’s sure to be one you won’t want to miss! The shows will be in cabaret on Friday & Saturday, September 5th & 6th at 7:30pm, and in concert on Sunday, September 7th at 2:00pm. A way of coping with a tragic loss has turned into a wonderful tribute for the family of the late Betty Travis.
Shelbie Gibson (Driever), grew up in Sidney Iowa, Rodeo Town USA, and was proud to be a part of the Two County Dusters, the Fremont and Page County Drill Team, for many years. Her last year was 2013.
The 2025 Sidney Iowa Rodeo Queen and all the Rodeo Royalty stopped at the Lakin Library to share about themselves, talk about the rodeo and do some crafting with patrons. The library sends their thanks and is looking forward to another visit next year. Submitted by Teresa Crecelius.
