Josh Hoyer is an international recording artist. Music has always been his haven from a crazy world; a place of freedom and pure expression. A Lincoln, Nebraska native, Hoyer took every music class he was able to in public school and sang in church choirs during his childhood. First starting on saxophone, he eventually moved to playing piano in his mid 20s, inspired to write music and lead bands of his own.
Since 2003, Hoyer has written nine studio albums to local, national and eventually, international acclaim. Versatility as a writer is one of his strong suits, blending all the styles in his deep catalog of influences. From Soul to Country, Funk to Doo-Wop, Rock to Pop, the one thing that holds it all together is the strong songwriting and undeniably Soulful voice.
The songs come directly from Hoyer’s life and have a realness that begs the listener to step into his world. The songs are about family, societal woes, love and loss. Hoyer aims to inspire and encourage through his music, and more than anything wants to relate the idea that no one is ever alone in their suffering/ If you can sum up his music and performance in a word: genuine. That is why Hoyer is most aptly referred to as a Soul artist. He is real, not flashy, not fluffy, not fabricated; honest and real.
Hoyer has been touring nationally and internationally since 2014. Averaging just over 200 shows a year, both as a solo artist and with his band, Josh Hoyer & Soul Colossal, his music has resonated with people all over the globe. Hoyer is called to write, play and sing the music that has been stirring in his soul since his early childhood.
