On July 17, 2024, the Hamburg Booster Club (HBC) partnered with Fremont County Golf Course to host its 2nd Annual Golf Tournament, which is the club’s main fund raiser for the year.
This year brought 12 teams and 10 hole sponsors.
Thanks to many generous donors, HBC was able to hold one of the largest silent auctions the course has seen for some time.
At the time of print the exact totals were still being tallied, but the club estimated to have raised approximately $7,000. None of this would be possible without our local supporters. The Booster Club thanks everyone who played a part in our tournament and encourages everyone to support these businesses.
Currently, Hamburg Booster Club has replaced many uniforms and sports equipment for the charter school. The Booster Club typically budgets $500 to each sports team and, this year, will be adding Charter School programs including, but not limited to, welding, construction, CNA, auto, and culinary. Occasionally, there are little things that might be out of the general budget, and the club’s goal is to support all students, even if they aren’t athletes.
The next big project is to replace the gym mats on the walls at the school. Although the mats aren’t that old (less than 15 years), they have seen wear and tear and were recycled from Farragut when they used to be the Blue Devil mats. The Booster Club feels that it’s important to show pride in the community and keep facilities in a state such that visitors are impressed with when they walk inside. Thanks to generous sponsors, the Booster Club has raised a little over half the money for the mats and they are going to print within the next couple of weeks.
Following the mats, the Booster Club would like to support the development of an Agriculture program within both the public and charter schools. The Booster Club will also be assisting the Hamburg Charter High School to support the activity and athletic funds to ensure students receive well rounded educational and athletic activities that may be out of financial reach for a relatively new school.
The Club’s next big fundraiser is new this year. The Club will be hosting live music and beer garden on Popcorn Day. Mark your calendars for Friday, Sept. 6, to attend a DJ & Karaoke event by M&M Entertainment from 7-11 p.m. and then again Saturday, Sept. 7, to attend live bands from 4-11 p.m. Both Gas N Grass from Shenandoah, Iowa, and The Welcome Hunters from Peru, Nebraska, will be playing. Admission for the live music is a free will donation and is open to all ages.
If you’d like to keep up with Booster Club activities and purchases, follow them on Facebook at Hamburg Booster Club. The Club typically meets on the third Wednesday of every month at 6 p.m. at the Blue Moon. Agendas and schedule changes are posted on the organization’s Facebook page. Meetings are open and any additional input or volunteers to support local youth are welcomed.
