Photos by Kirt Manion CherryRoad Media The Southwest Iowa wrestling team competed in a pair of Nebraska tournaments over the weekend with the boys’ team placing eighth out of 16 teams at the Thuderbird Invitational hosted by Johnson County Central at Cook and the girls’ team placing 19th out of 23 teams at the Platteview Invite. Placers for the boys’ team were Andreas Buttry, second at 106; Kyle Kesterson, third at 138; Sam Daly, third at 220; and Chance Roof, fourth at 285.
Hamburg kids enjoyed a day full of Christmas activities, including watching the movie The Grinch last Saturday, Dec. 18, at the school gymnasium.

The Grape Hospital Auxiliary Tree of Lights glows in 2021 as it has for the past 32 years. Over 200 purple bulbs are already lit on the tree in front of the hospital in memory or in honor of loved ones.

After trailing by seven points going into the fourth quarter against Fremont-Mills on Tuesday, Dec. 14, the Sidney girls’ basketball team rallied to win the final quarter, 16-8, and win the game by one point, 44-43, before smashing Essex on Friday to close out the pre- Christmas schedule on a three-game winning streak. F-M led 21-18 at half and 35-28 going to the final period.
