Naig extends fall cover crop program deadline to Jan. 28

Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig has extended the deadline for farmers who planted fall cover crops to sign up for a $5 per acre discount on their 2022 crop insurance premiums. Farmers and landowners now have through Jan. 28 to sign up online at apply.cleanwateriowa.org.

Iowa Farm Bureau Scholarship applications

High school students graduating in spring of 2022 are encouraged to apply for Iowa Farm Bureau Federation’s (IFBF) $2,500 scholarship, awarded to 27 eligible Iowa high school seniors and renewable for four years, up to $10,000.

Clara Jean (Nelson) Gude was born on September 30, 1938 in Hamburg, Iowa; the daughter of Wade (Pete) Nelson and Irene (Shirley) Nelson. She attended school in Hamburg and graduated from the Hamburg High School with the Class of 1956. She was united in marriage to John Frederick Gude on July 14, 1956 in Hamburg, Iowa.

Regardless, I just realized that I didn’t finish my tour of the east side of Main Street in the resurrection of Hamburg’s business district. I mentioned the new sandwich shop, Relax And Unwind, north of the old Connor’s store location, for some unknown reason, I then switched to the west side of Main at the far south end of the business district. Why ask why?
