Arbor Day lessons

There certainly were plenty of reasons to celebrate this year’s Arbor Day. In addition to it being the 150th anniversary of our hometown holiday’s first celebration, it also marked the 50th anniversary of the Nemaha Natural Resources District and the Arbor Day Foundation.

4-H & FFA Sheep & Goat Weigh-in held April 27th in Fremont County

Four youth weighed and tagged 15 lambs, and six youth weighed and tagged 14 goats at the Fremont County Fairgrounds as 4-H and FFA project April 27th. Youth weighing in lambs were: Lyla Brooks (Riverton Fisher), Dylan Brooks (Riverton Fisher Clover Kids), Jenna Hall (Washington PEP), Lillian Howe (Riverside Rockets), and Katherine Howe (Riverside Rockets).

Shenandoah native elected Iowa FFA President

Sam Martin, a Shenandoah native and former high school student, was recently elected as the state’s FFA President and shared some of his background and experience in southwest Iowa where he grew up on a farm.
