Hypothyroidism, the condition of the thyroid gland not making enough thyroid hormone, is a common hormonal disorder. Perhaps because hypothyroidism is common and its symptoms can be widespread and vague, misconceptions abound. Let’s cover the facts. Symptoms of hypothyroidism can include fatigue, dry skin, weight gain, and hair loss. These symptoms can occur for many other reasons, so fortunately a very simple blood test can tell us whether an underactive thyroid is the culprit.
Iowa AmeriCorps accepting host site applications
The Iowa AmeriCorps 4-H Outreach program has opened the host site application for the 2022-2023 program year. Government, faith-based, nonprofit or community-based organizations that focus on youth programming are encouraged to apply. Online applications are due by 11:59 p.m. on June 10.

Peru State College has announced its president’s and dean’s lists for the fall 2021 and spring 2022 semesters. Students representing Nebraska, 28 other states, Puerto Rico and five foreign countries were on the lists.

Being forced to switch toilet paper brands or fix something else for supper is small potatoes compared to what’s happening in stores across America today.
Biden’s baby formula shortage a matter of life and death
Here’s a headline I would never have thought I’d read in America in 2022: “Iowa families scour stores for baby formula.” But that’s the grim reality today under President Biden. In their reporting, the Des Moines Register cataloged the story of one mother who visited more than five different stores without finding the formula she needed for her newborn.

One lucky player who bought a Lucky For Life ticket for the Sunday, May 22 drawing has won $25,000 a year for the rest of their life. The Nebraska Lottery has confirmed that one ticket sold for Sunday’s Lucky For Life draw matched all five winning white ball numbers for the second prize.
