Peru State adds two new degree programs

The Board of Trustees of the Nebraska State Colleges approved two new degree program options for Peru State College. The two new options are included under the business administration major: the healthcare business option and the certified management accountant (CMA) business option.

Brownville Concert Series presents Darryl White Quintet

The Brownville Concert Series is thrilled to have The Darryl White Quintet! Darryl White, Jeff Jenkins, Hans Sturm, Michael Pujado, and Michael Warren play a wonderful mixture of traditional jazz, contemporary styles and even jazz spirituals. In 2020, Darryl White recorded his fifth record. This record was a wonderful and heartfelt tribute to all those who dealt with loss of loved ones and injustice. Much of the music from this album will be featured in this concert along with a sprinkling of traditional jazz that includes music from Louis Armstrong to Miles Davis. It’s sure to be one you won’t want to miss! The show will be in cabaret on Friday & Saturday, July 15th & 16th at 7:30pm, and Sunday, July 17th at 2:00pm. We give special thanks to Blake & Julia Hurst, Kay Rosenbohm, and Charles & Carole James for helping to sponsor these shows. The Sunday show will be dedicated in memory of Charles Anderson and in honor of Jody Anderson. Darryl White is offering to give a free Trumpet Master Class at 2:00-3:00pm on Saturday July 16 plus a free ticket to the show. Interested students must call the Box Office by July 8th to register.

Bachelor’s degrees conferred in May ceremony at PSC

Peru State College and its President, Dr. Michael Evans, granted degrees to 192 undergraduates on Saturday, May 7, 2022, in the Al Wheeler Activity Center on the campus of the College. More than 2,500 people attended the ceremony in the Al Wheeler Activity Center which was followed by a reception on the campus quad.

Adams County’s Lake Icaria offers year-round recreation

Lake Icaria is a popular fishing lake in southwest Iowa’s Adams County. It’s also has a popular campground. And a popular swimming beach, and is popular for boating and for deer hunting. In fact, Lake Icaria offers year-round outdoor recreation attracting visitors from Des Moines to Council Bluffs and all across the region.

Sidney gets measure of revenge over Vikings

After absorbing a one-run second round loss to Stanton in the Corner Conference tournament, the Sidney Cowboy baseball team bounced back with a 6-1 win in a rematch against the Vikings. Sidney beat Essex in a doubleheader rout on June 20 before falling 17-8 in a pre-conference tournament match with Stanton on June 21.
