Chapman nominated for state Hall of Fame

The late Calvin Chapman finally got his hearing in front of the Nebraska Hall of Fame Commission, but his most enthusiastic supporter was not in attendance. Chapman’s great-granddaughter, Teresa Geer-Teater, has been faithfully submitting her ancestor for consideration by the commission (she called and visited the News-Press offices to discuss her project, and I last spoke with her about her great-grandfather while standing alongside her car on Central Avenue on a brisk December day in 2021), and her date had been set: July 20.
