The 2022 sweet corn eating contest was well attended on the main stage at the Fremont County Fair. The challenge was to eat 3 ears of sweet corn in the shortest amount of time. Four age groups competed for a coveted corn trophy.

It was about Farm Aid III, spearheaded by Willie Nelson It doesn’t seem possible that memorable day occurred 25 years ago. It was held at the height of the foreclosures on farm families during the farm crisis of the 1980’s.
This past weekend the Bobcat volleyball team hit the road for a tri-match as they faced Central Christian College and Sterling College in Sterling, Kansas on Friday night. Unfortunately, Peru State lost a heartbreaker in the first match after being up two sets to zero and ended up losing in five. Sterling handled Peru State as they swept the Bobcats who fell to 0-2 to start the season.
The 2022 Fremont County Fair Swine Show was in the show arena on the fairgrounds, in Sidney. The show began with senior swine showmanship.
Kirt Manion, CherryRoad Media Six athletes are out for cross country in Sidney this season, all of them boys. Coach Stephen Meyer said three of the runners are freshmen with two of those being junior high runners.
Communication events were a highlight of the Fremont County Fair’s Say It, Set It, Strut It! Event held on the fairgrounds in Sidney. The 2022 communications events were judged by Linda Thompson of Omaha, NE.
Many youth participated in the 2022 Fremont County Fair pedal tractor pull on the fairgrounds. In the 4 and under range, Bentley Johnson had a full pull for first place.
The 2022 Fremont County Fair Dog, Cat and Pet show brought a variety of beloved pets to the fairgrounds. Results for the dog show included the following: In the intermediate dog showmanship class, Lana Alley (Riverside Rockets) received a purple ribbon.
