Letter to the Editor:

Thank you to all the local businesses and communities that have supported and continue to support Zayne Osborn’s fight against cancer! When we were first approached about a fundraiser, we were reluctant, but also knew people wanted a way to help. What started out as one fundraiser ended up being multiple fundraisers! We were, and still are, in awe over the generosity of all! Each event was a time for friends, family, and people we didn’t even know to get together for a good cause! They shared words of kindness, support, and prayers! We will never be able to thank you all enough, but please know that Zayne and our family appreciates every act of kindness shown to our family! The amount of support is a true testament to the person Zayne is, and also to the testament of what small communities offer; love and support! We are forever grateful for all of you! Much love, Zayne Osborn and family .

It’s tempting to blame the pandemic for the dizzying rates of mental health concerns among American teens. We are all familiar with the impact Covid is having on our lives, and the disruption it continues to cause in the lives of young people. Kids witnessed vehement disagreements between neighbors, friends, and family over the decisions that had to be made in response to the pandemic, and felt the stress at home as parents faced economic and work changes, all without many of their usual support systems.
