Harvest Hoedown

The Hamburg United Methodist and United Trinity Churches hosted the Harvest Hoedown featuring a live musical performance by the Southwest 7 band. The event was from 5 to 8 p.m. at the United Methodist Church parking lot. Members of the public were invited free of charge to bring a lawn chair and sit to enjoy the music as well as yard games and a meal of hot dogs, chips and a drink.

New Paint

The Methodist Church of Hamburg recently spruced up the church with trim and steeple painting Thompson Painting out of Hamburg. Judy Holliman with the Methodist Church said the painting had been needed with paint cracking. Some of the condition might have been related to the flood. The church did have flood water in its basement and the high degree of humidity likely affected the paint elsewhere on the building. The Hamburg Methodist Church shares Pastor Courtney Dake with the United Trinity Church, also from Hamburg. The two churches alternate the site of their service.

Practice escape plan for Fire Prevention Week

This Fire Prevention Week (October 9-15), the American Red Cross Serving Iowa urges everyone to practice their two-minute home fire escape plan and test their smoke alarms to stay safe from the nation’s most frequent disaster.

Support pours out for Hamburg’s Osborn

Hamburg’s Zayne Osborn continues his cancer fight with the knowledge that he’s not fighting this battle alone. The Hamburg community and surrounding communities have made that fact clear with support pouring in from Sidney, Nebraska City, Glenwood, Plattsmouth, Tabor, Malvern, Riverton and Rockport.
