Auditioned for All-State Band

Christian Harris, a senior at Sidney High School, auditioned for All-State Band in Atlantic on Saturday, Oct. 22. Out of 21 percussionists that auditioned, Christian ranked 3rd, and was chosen as an alternate. The All-State Band and Orchestra is chosen without regard to class size or school size. Students of all classes audition against each other. All-State Festival takes place at Iowa State University Nov. 17-19.

Let’s Defund EcoHealth

The shady organization that funneled U.S. tax dollars into China’s state-run Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV) to conduct risky research on coronaviruses collected from bats is once again being paid by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to experiment on bats.

Hamburg Kiwanis Annual Halloween Bash Coming

Hamburg Kiwanis is holding their annual Halloween Bash on Saturday, Oct. 29th, at 6 p.m. There will be trick or treating on Main Street followed by a bonfire, hot dogs, s’mores and Haunted Hay Rack Rides at the Hamburg Fire Hall. Stop by The Center, north of the Blue Moon, while on Main Street and get your picture taken by the Hamburg Reporter to run in the newspaper.

City of Hamburg Project Updates FEMA Street Project: All rock roads are done. Alan Dovel, Sheryl Owen and Harry Adams will have a meeting with the street engineers in October to go over scope of work and make any changes that need to be made. The goal is to get bids out this fall with a spring start date.

Halloween Event

Get into the Halloween spirit at the Pumpkin Carving and Painting event at the Sidney Gazebo Park from 3 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 23. All are invited, from novice artists to veterans and everyone in between. This event is free with pumpkins, tools for carving/painting, embellishments, and paint all provided. It will be guaranteed fun for all ages. This is the first year for this event. It’s part of a project that a local creative group in Sidney called “The Brew” has put in motion.
