At the Library
Large print books make it easier for some of our patrons to read, but the novels can be checked out by anyone. Few of the books in large print are duplicates of ones in regular font, so patrons may find something new in the large print section at Hamburg Public Library.
Two recently acquired large print fiction books are continuations of series. “Buckskin Blues” is a continuation of a Jesse Coltharp western by Greg Bower. “This action-packed western novel takes the reader through the emotions of a man tested in his loyalty, fueled by justice, sharpened by the elements, and cemented by love.”—publisher’s comments.
“History’s Pages” is Book 3 in the Knocknashee historical fiction series by Jean Grainger. In 1940, an unlikely friendship bridges the Atlantic. Twenty-year-old Grace Fitzgerald lives in the seemingly peaceful Irish village of Knocknashee, exchanging letters with Richard Lewis, an American war correspondent stationed in London, as World War II engulfs Europe.
The large print options also include murder mysteries. A new addition is “Death of a Smuggler” by M. C. Beaton. Sergeant Hamish Macbeth simply wants to relax and enjoy the winter in his sleepy Scottish village, but those dreams are dissolved by a murder, a missing man, and someone’s secret past. So much for peacefulness.
Fiction books in regular print that have recently been acquired include an entertaining rom-com by Lucy Score. In “The Story of My Life,” Hazel is a successful romance novelist seeking inspiration to meet her publisher’s deadline. After impulsively buying a historic home online, she discovers the ad may have slightly exaggerated its status. Can a grouchy contractor revive the house and provide the author with a winning plot for her next book as well?
K.M. Jackson is a new addition to authors represented by the titles on the shelves at Hamburg’s library. Kwana grew up desiring to be a fashion designer or a writer. She spent ten years designing women’s sportswear and now she’s pursuing her second dream. The author’s Sugar Lake series is a contemporary romance set in a small southern town rich with interesting characters. Join them at Goode ‘N Sweet Bakery in “As Good as the First Time” and “Too Sweet to Be Good.”
