The Washington PEP 4H Club had their October meeting at Waubonsie State Park. The kids held their club meeting, brought guests to learn about 4H, learned how to start a fire, and also practiced using a fire extinguisher. Members learned the importance of proper kindling and that fire extinguishers can actually release a powder, not the liquid it looks like in movies. They also learned in order for the fire extinguishers to be effective, you have to sweep at the base of the fire and not spray at the top of the flame. Information submitted by Teresa Crecelius.
