Gary R. Holland, age 79 of Adel, IA (formerly Hamburg, IA) passed away on Monday, October 10, 2022 at Adel Acres Care Center in Adel, IA.

Gary Roy Holland was born on May 31, 1943 in Hamburg, IA; the son of Cecil W. and Eva B. (Mattice) Holland. He attended school in Hamburg.

On June 25, 1977, Gary was united in marriage to Shirley Ann Hanes at Arbor Lodge in Nebraska City, NE. He worked for the Fremont County Roads department for 41 years. He was a member of the Nebraska City Coin Club and the United Trinity Church in Hamburg.

He is survived by his wife Shirley Holland of Adel, IA; children: Tina Flint of Tabor, IA, Christine Holland of Glenwood, IA, Mindy Holland (Adam Fisher) of Adel, IA and Marty Holland (Christina) of Council Bluffs, IA; six grandchildren: Alex Flint, Blake Holland, Ashton Richards, Aiden Richards, Wrigley Holland and Lilly Holland; other family and friends.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents.

A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, October 14, 2022 at the Rash-Gude Funeral Home in Hamburg, IA with Pastor Courtney Dake officiating. Burial will follow at Hamburg Cemetery in Hamburg, IA.

The family will greet friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday (10/13) at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like memorials to be directed to the Hamburg Fire and Rescue.
