Meet Them Where They Are
Recently, a friend of mine gave me some good advice. It’s a saying I’ve never used in 63 years. But it came at a perfect time.
What can we learn from the dying?
For the last five years, I have had the great privilege of serving my local health system as Medical Director for Home Hospice. Every week I sit in a meeting with the multidisciplinary caretakers on this team – the nurses who provide the great majority of the hands-on care, social worker, pharmacist, dietician, and pastor. We discuss all the patients currently under our care and discuss how we can improve each patient’s suffering and maximize their quality of life.

Tabitha’s February Health Tip
In the throes of life, it’s easy to be distracted by finances, family or circumstances you can’t control. When do you remember to care for yourself? February is National Self-Check Month, serving as a welcome reminder to take a step back and re-evaluate your overall wellness. A good self-check is more than a half-hearted once-over; consistency and listening to your body may instead lead to early detection of diseases or an illness that could otherwise take a toll on your health.
