Sidney baseball, softball hosts East Mills
The Sidney baseball and softball teams hosted East Mills on Monday, June 10, for a baseball and softball doubleheader.Sidney’s softball team rallied from down 14-6 to score nine runs in their final at bat of the game for a 15-14 win that was the Cowgirls’ first triumph of the season.Turning to the baseball game, Sidney was down 8-5 in the bottom of the sixth inning and had the bases loaded when an umpire ruling of interference by Sidney’s first base coach led to the third out of the inning.East Mills scored two insurance runs in the top of the seventh and went off with a 10-5 win.Other recent softball and baseball results are below.Sidney baseball 7, Fremont-Mills 1The Cowboys jumped to a 4-1 lead after one inning and never looked back on the way to victory.Sidney had six hits on the game including a two-hit offensive by Michael Hensley that included a double.
