Grape Hospital helps local family deal with rare illness
Loving and kind care from the professionals at Hamburg’s Grape Community Hospital has made a huge difference in the life of 3-year-old patient Kali Lutz of Sidney.It’s been nearly a year since Kali began to experience the symptoms of a rare condition called OMS, a disorder where the immune system reacts to a small tumor by attacking the nervous system.Through what can only be described as a harrowing journey for the young patient, her mother, Gina, her father, Adam, and all their family members, Grape Community Hospital provided comfort and is seen as the family’s guardians of hope.Gina recalls the day that their lives changed.It was July 29, 2023, a seemingly normal morning.Gina said Kali seemed “off” and that she seemed to be unsteady.“I expressed my concerns to my husband Adam, and I asked him if he was seeing what I was,” she said.
