A total of 21 players are out for boys’ basketball at Sidney High School with a number of experienced athletes heading up the group.Returners include point guard Grant Whitehead, center/forward Braedon Godfread, forward Kolt Payne, forward Michael Hensely, and guard Andreas Buttry.The team will be led by Coach Luke Buttry.Looking at the goals for the season, Coach Buttry listed the Corner Conference championship as something the team is aiming to grab this year.Other goals listed by the coach include cutting down on turnovers and having steady improvement throughout the season with the Cowboys looking to make a run in postseason play this year.The schedule has challenges with Sidney matching up against multiple schools from the Hawkeye 10 Conference.
