In last week’s story about the Lourdes Central Catholic musical performers’ accolades at the District Music competition, we inadvertently left out the accomplishments of the Women’s Ensemble, which received a Superior rating and an Outstanding Performance Award.
Peru State Men’s Basketball Coach Roman Gentry provided the program for the Nebraska City Rotary Club luncheon at Valentino’s restaurant on South 11th Street on Wednesday, April 26. Coach Gentry took the reins of the Peru State men’s team for the 2022-23 season and the squad posted a fantastic season in tying for the third most wins in program history, 25, and qualifying for the NAIA National Tournament.
The Sidney girls’ and boys’ golf teams recently competed in a triangular with Bedford and Lenox. The boys’ team shot 179 to top Bedford’s 182 and Lenox, which had a 188.
If you paid a contractor to build a house and you agreed to a price and timeline, but the builder blew through the timeline and racked up the price tag, you’d be pretty upset. I bet you’d demand accountability, maybe even a discount.

Medal winners for the Sidney girls’ team were Lilly Peters, first, discus, 120’6”; fourth, shot, 31’4”; Paycee Holmes, first, long jump, 15’7.25”; Eve Brumbaugh, second, 400, 1:03.73; Lilly Kingsolver, third, 100, 14.03; and Addy Haning, fifth, 400, 1:10.63; sixth, 200, 31.90.
