Iowa DCI provides update on Sidney homicide investigation
On April 17, 2023, the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office responded to the report of a stabbing at 508 Main St. in Sidney, Iowa. Upon arrival, deputies and first responders located two make subjects outside the residence who had been stabbed, one individual later succumbed to his injuries, while the other was life flighted to University of Omaha Medical Center (UNMC) in Omaha with life threatening injuries.

Dowling, Sidney first at Lewis Central meet
Sidney earned a top team finish and grabbed the individual gold medal at the Lewis Central Invite at Fox Run Golf Course on Thursday, April 20. Avery Dowling led the Cowgirl team with a gold medal 18-hole score of 88.

Neighborhood Revitalization Planning Grant awarded to Sidney, Creston and Corning
The cities of Sidney, Creston, and Corning were each awarded $25,000 grants under the Comprehensive Neighborhood Revitalization Planning Community Development Block Grant (CNRP-CDBG) Program by the Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA). Southwest Iowa Planning Council (SWIPCO) will administer the grant for these cities.
