Live streamed continuing instruction courses for Spring 2023

The Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Pesticide Safety Education Program will be hosting live-streamed Private and Commercial Continuing Instruction Courses (P-CIC & C-CIC) online training this spring as an additional opportunity for private and commercial pesticide applicators to be trained. Attendees will need a computer and a good internet connection to participate in the programs. Applicators can register by going to the Extension Store (https:// store.extension.iastate.edu) and searching for “Live Streamed”. Here is the schedule for the remaining statewide CIC reshow dates and times: Private Continuing Instruction Courses April 4, 9-11:30 a.m. Commercial Continuing Instruction Courses Commercial Ag Weed, Insect, and Plant Disease Management (CCA CEU’s Available), Categories 1A, 1B, and 1C March 30, 6-8:30 p.m. Ornamental and Turfgrass Applicators, Categories 3O, 3T, and 3OT March 30, 1-3:30 p.m.

PSC’s Grotrian presents at conference on the First-Year Experience

In early February, Peru State College Professor of Business, Dr. Sheri Grotrian, attended and presented at the 42nd Annual Conference on the First-Year Experience (FYE) in Los Angeles, California. The annual conference provides a forum for higher education professionals’ insights related to supporting student learning, development, and success in the first year of college.

United Fund reaches goal

The generosity of the Hamburg community has once again made it possible for the local United Fund drive to reach its goal. Recently checks totaling $9,000 were distributed to representatives of eight non-profit groups whose volunteer efforts benefit all ages.

A recent farm trends publication from Iowa State University Extension and Outreach discusses changing farm trends between 2011 and 2021, including farm sizes, production values, net incomes and debt. In Rural Iowa at a Glance, Farm Trends (2022 Edition), David Peters, professor and extension rural sociologist at Iowa State University, shares data that shows the way agriculture in the state is shifting.
