Gov. Reynolds delivers 2023 Condition of the State Address

Moringside dean’s list released
Morningside University Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Chris Spicer announced the 471 students named to the dean’s list for the fall semester of the 2022-23 academic year. The dean’s list recognizes Morningside students who achieve a 3.67-grade point average or better and complete at least 12 credits of coursework with no grade below a “C-.” Students who achieved a 4.0-grade point average are denoted with an asterisk (*).
Another year of education and outreach at Iowa State’s farms
The research and demonstration farms operated by Iowa State University continued to be a popular place for educational events and field days in 2022. More than 14,000 people, including school-age youth, visited the 15 farms throughout the year.
Iowa educators voice opposition to Gov. Reynolds voucher plan
Governor Reynolds released her private school vouchers plan during the Condition of the State address on Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2023. This plan is not inclusive, does not require transparency nor accountability to taxpayers, and does not serve all students and families.
Hamburg Library to host Focus on Nature
The Hamburg Public Library welcomes Mike Harvey of Shenandoah, who is sharing photography image favorites in a slideshow presentation on Tuesday, Feb. 28, at 6 p.m. at the Hamburg Public Library meeting room. The program will be called Focus on Nature.

Iowa DNR water summary: Third consecutive year of drought
2022 ended on a good note, with December’s precipitation above normal. While the precipitation numbers for November and December were encouraging, the state of Iowa saw its third year in a row of drought conditions.
