December is National Safe Toys and Gifts Month

Unfortunately, thousands of children are hurt or even killed each year due to an interaction with an unsafe or developmentally inappropriate toy.
Auburn State Bank donates to PSC Project ROAR
Auburn State Bank recently donated $50,000 to Peru State College’s Project ROAR Campaign in support of the new facilities. This will help transform Peru State College and Southeast Nebraska with five new buildings. Auburn State Bank pledge amount will go to the naming rights for a basketball court in the multipurpose dome.
Kimsey joins team at ISU Extension & Outreach Fremont County
Belinda Kimsey is serving in a part-time role as Fremont County Office Assistant for Iowa State University Extension and Outreach. She brings a wealth of experience to her new position following a 27-year career with the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship-Division of Soil Conservation and Water Quality in Mills County.
Southeast CC to move, expand athletic offerings in 2023
Prospective student-athletes attending Southeast Community College will soon have more choices in which to participate in intercollegiate athletics when an expansion plan takes effect in fall 2023. Also, sports teams will be based at Beatrice, Lincoln and Milford campuses instead of Beatrice only, which has been the case for decades.
SWI teams feature 36 athletes
The Southwest Iowa wrestling teams have 36 athletes out for this year with 14 on the girls’ team and 22 on the boys’ team. Breaking down the girls’ roster, there are six juniors, six sophomores and two freshmen.

The Southwest Iowa girls’ wrestling team competed at the Council Bluffs Girls Wrestling Showdown on Monday night. A total of 15 teams competed in the event. The Southwest Iowa girls’ wrestling team competed at the 27-team Friday night Fracas. Wrestlers and results from that meet are as follows: Kayleanna Renshaw earned one win by pin at 135 pounds.
