The collection makes accessible to the public the personal accounts of American war veterans to memorialize their stories for generations to come.

Digging For Beauty

I know the seasons are really changing by observing the garden departments of retail stores. There is one sure fire way for a flower lover to tell. Well, all of the leftover Spring bulbs have been discounted in price. Some have been thrown away by staff that thought it would be more profitable to use the space they took to gear up for Christmas shoppers. I purchased some a few weeks ago and was planting the last of them when Pam Henke surprised me. I was glad she stopped to say “Hi” instead of just driving by. It was good to visit for a few minutes. She had an appointment so she didn’t have time to stop for long. Always great to see Syracuse friends.

Private Pesticide Continuing Instruction Course

Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Fremont County office will be offering an opportunity to attend the Private Pesticide Applicator Continuing Instruction Course (P-CIC), led by Extension Field Agronomist, Aaron Saeugling. This session is scheduled for December 7, 2022, at 1:30 PM at the McElroy Building on the Fremont County Fairgrounds in Sidney, Iowa. Additional courses are available through neighboring Iowa counties including Mills and Page. Pre-registration is welcome, but not required, by calling the Fremont County Extension office at 712-3742351.

Schumm and Harbach join Plant and Insect Diagnostic Clinic

The Plant and Insect Diagnostic Clinic at Iowa State University has welcomed two new diagnosticians who will help diagnose plant and insect issues found in Iowa. Zach Schumm is an insect diagnostician and Chelsea Harbach is a plant disease diagnostician with the Plant and Insect Diagnostic Clinic, which is part of Iowa State University Extension and Outreach.

Peru State College honors 2022 Athletic Hall of Fame inductees

It was a perfect weekend to celebrate and that is what Peru State College, its Foundation, and the Athletic Department did this past Friday and Saturday. Peru State inducted its 30th class into its Athletic Hall of Fame which included a banquet Friday night and then an induction during halftime of its football game on Saturday, Oct. 22. To top things off, the Bobcat football team pulled out a 27-25 win over the William Penn Statesmen in the beautiful Oak Bowl. Five individuals and ten different men’s basketball teams were honored during the two days of events.
