Brownville Concert Series Introduces Steven Banks

The Brownville Concert Series is thrilled to have Saxophone soloist, Steven Banks! Recognized for his “glowing mahogany tone” (Seen and Heard International) and “breathtaking” (Classical Voice of NC) performances, Seven Banks is establishing himself as an important young artist on the saxophone. It’s sure to be one you won’t want to miss! He will be in concert on Sunday, November 13th at 2:00pm. With a program that will feature works by Saint-Saens, J. S. Bach and Rachmaninoff. We give special thanks to Mary & John Lauber for sponsoring the show. Steven Banks is offering to give a free Master Class in Saxophone 30 minutes after the show. Hamburg Kiwanis Annual Halloween Bash Coming

Hamburg Kiwanis is holding their annual Halloween Bash on Saturday, Oct. 29th, at 6 p.m. There will be trick or treating on Main Street followed by a bonfire, hot dogs, s’mores and Haunted Hay Rack Rides at the Hamburg Fire Hall. Stop by The Center, north of the Blue Moon, while on Main Street and get your picture taken by the Hamburg Reporter to run in the newspaper.

Former Sidney musicians band together for Southwest Seven

A band made up primarily of former Sidney High School musicians are making their rounds under the name “The Southwest Seven.” Nicole Zavadil, the band instructor, said the first notion of the musical group came up during a conversation with then high school senior Cale Phillips. Zavadil, who taught guitar to Cale during his senior year, said the two talked about someday starting a band as a fun hobby or side project.

What you can do to prepare for the months ahead Winterize your vehicle - To minimize the possibility of a breakdown, get your vehicle tuned up. Check your vehicle’s wipers, hoses, battery, alternator, belts, tires, brakes, exhaust system, lights, and fluid levels. Make sure your vehicle’s heater and defroster are in good working order and you travel with plenty of gas in your tank. A breakdown is frustrating on a good day but can be dangerous during wintery weather.
