2022 WASHINGTON DC TRIP

Day 1 May 25 Our road trip began at 5:45am! *Hannibal MO to see Mark Twains Lighthouse and Cave. I will be honest I almost didn't make it up the stairs to the Lighthouse (244 steps) *Mark Twains Cave is the oldest show cave in MO. It was interesting to see the autographs on the wall and hear the story while being in the cave. *Next we traveled to Springfield to see Lincoln's hometown and Tomb. We were told to rub Lincoln's nose for good luck. *Then we made it to our first hotel for a few hours of sleep? Dinner and Breakfast at the hotel. We traveled through IA, MO, and Illinois! We planned to camp out but storms were coming so we grabbed hotel rooms. Thank goodness because it did storm not long after getting to the hotel! Day 1 packed in many memories!
