Hot, hot weather came to us this week, reminding me of the hot summers we had when I was small. I spent many days with my aunt as I was her playmate back then.

Ruth Lavern White

Ruth Lavern White, a Hamburg resident the last 63 years, died early Sunday morning, at the Ambassador in Sidney. She was born at home, April 30, 1928 in Dale Township, Atchison County Missouri. Her parents were Donald Emmit Douglas and Esther Bradfield.

Richard V. Wheeler Jr.

Richard “Dick” V. Wheeler Jr., 93, of Hamburg, Iowa, formerly of Shubert, Nebraska, was born on November 25, 1928, in rural Howe, Nebraska to Richard V. Sr. and Helen (Andrew) Wheeler. He was raised with his family near Stella where he attended school and graduated from Stella High School.
