James W. Folkes

James W. Folkes, 80, of Hamburg, Iowa passed away on May 27, 2022 at his home with his family by his side. He was born August 20, 1941 in Hamburg to Vernon and Marjorie (Omer) Folkes. Jim went to school through 8th grade at Valley Farm country school and graduated from Hamburg High School with the class of 1960. He married his high school sweetheart, Ruth Hein, on April 28, 1962 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. They were blessed with two children, Diane and Jeffrey.

Reynolds, Gregg release statements on 2022 legislative session accomplishments

PSC men’s basketball to host August offensive skills camp

Peru State men’s basketball head coach Bob Ludwig recently announced that the men’s basketball program will be hosting an Offensive Skills Camp Monday, August 1, through Wednesday, August 3. The camp will be for boys in the third grade through high school seniors. The camp will be from 9:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m., each day and walk in registration will be that Monday at 8:30 a.m.

June is Invasive Species Awareness Month across Iowa

In an effort to increase awareness of invasive species and the impact they have on Iowa’s ecosystems and economy, Governor Kim Reynolds recently proclaimed June as Invasive Species Awareness Month in Iowa. Each year, public and private organizations spend millions of dollars in an effort to control invasive plants, insects, diseases and animal species in Iowa’s woodlands and urban areas.
