Audrey Goodman and Xavier Ratliff from Sidney High School competed at State Track Special Olympics in Ames, Iowa on Friday, May 20 and Saturday, May 21 and both won medals in their competitions. Ratliff competed in the standing long jump on Friday and received second place.
The proposed Shenandoah Hills wind energy project in Page and Fremont counties will be discussed during an evening meeting hosted by Invenergy. The meeting is set to start at 7 p.m.
The Hamburg School is participating in the summer free meal program for kids ages 18 years and under. The program started on June 6 and will last until the end of June from Monday through Friday.

Percival Hometown Pride celebrated a Memorial flag raising ceremony at the Percival Park. A flagpole and flag were donated by a former Percival resident in memory and honor of Russell and Mary Jewell, Charles Jewell, and US Military Veterans.
With the storm approaching, my wife texted me after work to come home right away. Within minutes, after I left the clinic, she called me again to tell me NOT to come home and to seek shelter immediately. At first, I thought I could make it home, but then the wall of wind hit, and a tree fell onto the road in front of me. I turned around and another tree blocked the way. Then it got so dark. It was disorienting and I turned on my windshield wipers using the fluid to try to clear the dust and mud off my windshield. That did not help. Thankfully, I made it safely to a friend’s house.
