Easter dinner is a special occasion, presenting an opportunity for family and friends to gather, celebrate their faith and give thanks for their blessings. TeamMates mentors, mantees attend Husker scrimmage

Approximately 1,500 TeamMates mentors and mentees attended the Husker Red-White Spring Game at Memorial Stadium in Lincoln on Saturday, April 9th. All who attended enjoyed the warm weather, the Husker win as well as the opportunity to attend the annual scrimmage for the first time since pre-covid event in 2019. CEO DeMoine Adams said, “We are grateful to the University for this opportunity to have 40 of our 139 TeamMates chapters participate in this great event. Because of Covid, we have not been able to have TeamMates Matches events for some time, and we are certainly looking forward to hosting and attending more events in the future.”

Reynolds announces new Destination Iowa grant opportunities

Gov. Reynolds has announced a $100 million investment to bolster the quality of life in Iowa’s communities and attract visitors and new residents to the state. The new effort, called Destination Iowa, will provide grants to help communities move forward on transformational, shovel-ready attractions. Cities, counties, nonprofits and other organizations can apply for Destination Iowa grants from four separate funds: Economically Significant Development, Outdoor Recreation, Tourism Attraction, and Creative Placemaking.

$133,550 Granted to Fremont County Community Projects

The Fremont County Community Foundation awarded $133,550 to Fremont County nonprofit organizations and community projects during its spring 2022 grant cycle. The following organizations are spring 2022 grant recipients: City of Farragut, Hackett Field renovation, $11,096.91; City of Imogene, Imogene public art, $7,290; City of Randolph, community storm shelter, restrooms, and concessions, $6,764; City of Sidney, rubber mulch for city playground, $5,000; City of Thurman, park equipment, $2,525; Faith in Action Volunteers, community TVNR (trap-neuter-vaccinate-return) program, $1,000; Fremont County Fair Board, repair of fairgrounds building, $8,862.09; George C.

Friends of Waubonsie

Friends of Waubonsie is a group of volunteers who join together to promote the park and help make it attractive to visitors. A recent project was picking up trash along Highway 2 approaching the entrance. This group of Friends and volunteers cleaned the area April 2. They plan a similar clean up day in the fall and invite interested individuals to participate.
